Fuel and CO2 prices rose in all markets yesterday, with oil in New York hitting the 100 dollar barrier for the first time on fears that violence in Nigeria may disrupt supply as global demand for commodities climbs.
The WTI February contract on Nymex gained USD 3.64 on the previous close to settle at USD 99.62 a barrel. The contract had then traded at apeak of USD 100 before adjusting slightly down. The corresponding Brent crude contract in London also gained strongly, settling up USD 3.99 at USD 97.84/barrel after having traded at USD 98 sharp, the highest intraday price since trading began in 1988.
