Forward prices continued to decline on Tuesday morning, driven by fossil fuels and weaker stockmarkets, traders said.
The front year contract softened to a low of EUR 37.75/MWh during early trading, but has since recovered to EUR 39.45/MWh, down EUR 0.70 on Monday's settlement.
A Nordic trader said the YR-09 slide thus far this week might be "a bit too heavy”, since the contract was slightly below the marginal production cost for coal-fired power at the moment of writing.
