Oil prices opened high Monday but fell later in the day, as news that Israel may scale back its attack on Lebanon and on reports of a possible breakthrough in talks with Iran.
Prices for the ICE Brent front month contract at one point hit USD 78.18/ barrel, falling later to 75.73, before ending at 75.92, down 1.66. The corresponding contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange traded at 75.30, shedding 1.73.
