The settlement price for Brent crude oil dropped below the 70 mark for the first time in one month on Monday, but CO2 outshone all other price drivers for power by trading sharply upwards in a nine euros intraday range.
“No one took notice that oil fell almost 2 dollars today, everyone was watching the CO2 market,” a German portfolio manager summed up the sentiment in the European power market by mid-day on Monday.
