Mild weather and low consumption combined with a large hydrological surplus could trigger a collapse in spot prices during Christmas, a trader said on Friday.
"The market expects an almost flat development in spot prices for the rest of the year. But I think there is a much larger downside in the spot prices during Christmas if the weather remains mild, leading to a significant reduction in household consumption,” a Swedish trader said. Reduced industrial consumption during the holiday will also contribute to the downside, he added.
