The Nordic power market is nervous on Friday morning, players said as they anticipated high spot prices at the start of next week due to the freezing weather, with one trader describing the upside as "crazy".
The Monday contract at Nord Pool was last seen traded at EUR 115/MWh on Friday morning. "There is a huge fear for Monday. It's going to be very cold, we will see the same temperatures as in the first week this year. The upside is crazy,” said Preben Olsen, trader at Norwegian utility BKK.
