Nordic forward prices are rising sharply on Monday morning due to continuing cold and dry weather, a high system price and nuclear reactor problems in Sweden, traders said.
The Q1 11 contract last traded at EUR 70.75/MWh at Nasdaq OMX, up EUR 3.55 from Friday, while the 2011 contact last changed hands at EUR 56.70/MWh, up EUR 1.95. "The situation is extreme. The market is nervous due to the cold and dry weather forecasts being confirmed and the problems with Ringhals 1 and Oskarshamn 3,” said Poul-Erik Hansen, trader at Energi Midt Handel in Denmark.
