The front weeks are falling on the back of very wet and mild forecasts, while coal and CO2 prices are sending the year-09 towards the all time high level.
The year 2009 contract rose 60 cents to EUR 53.35/MWh earlier this morning, but was last seen at EUR 53.10. Players point to the extremely strong coal market as the main driver, with the price for March soaring above USD 150/tonne this week on the API2 curve.
