Prices are rocketing Monday morning on the back of a system price far above expectations and dry forecasts. The front end of the curve has been lifted around four euros from Friday's close, reaching a new record level.
The Q3-08 contract shot up three euros at the opening, and climbed as high as EUR 54/MWh before easing off slightly to EUR 53.50 last, still 3.65 euros up from Friday.Players attribute the soaring prices to very dry weather and a weakening hydrological balance.
