Rising fuel prices are pushing the Nordic years to new heights, while the front end is sliding in thin trade.
The front year was lifted to EUR 65.85/MWh this morning, up one euro from yesterday's close, but was last seen at EUR 65.55. Players attribute the rise to soaring prices for coal and oil, with API2 coal prices reaching USD 200/tonne for Q4-08, and crude oil prices rising to USD 137/barrel Tuesday morning. In the German power market, the Cal 09 base contract has reached the EUR 82 mark.
