The Year 08 contract continues up this morning and was last seen at EUR 43.50/MWh. “It’s hard to find any fundamental justification for the current price level,” says Morten Nilsen at Bergen Energi.
“Prices on German power, CO2, oil and coal are strong. But I can’t really see any good fundamental reason for the recent rise. Prices should be higher next year because of the CO2 market, but if we put in a price of 18 euros and CO2 on top of the marginal cost of coal fired production the price should be several euros lower than the current market price of the Year 08 contract,̶
