Nordic power prices are trading sideways on Wednesday, but are likely to continue down as a result of wet forecasts causing high hydropower production, players said.
After a morning low of EUR 49.75/MWh, the Q4 contract was last seen at EUR 50.25/MWh, up 15 cents from Tuesday. After rising on the back of stronger fuels prices on Tuesday, wet forecasts was once again giving downward pressure on the curve, players said. The latest weather forecasts predict 8.3-12.9 TWh of precipitation the next 10 days, far above the normal of 6.3 TWh, according to SMHI.
