Increasingly wet weather forecasts coupled with falling stock and currency markets, in the wake of global economic concerns, are pressuring Nordic power prices, market players said on Thursday.
The Q4 11 contract was last seen down 40 cents day on day at EUR 49.00/MWh, while further out on the curve the 2012 contract was down 15 cents at EUR 46.70/MWh. This came on the back of increasingly wet weather forecasts in the Nordic region, a Finnish power trader said. Levels of precipitation are set to reach 11.5 TWh in the next 10 days, compared with a seasonal average of 6.1 TWh.
