Soaring spot prices lifted the front end considerably at the opening, while wet forecasts helped push prices downwards again.
The front quarter opened at EUR 53.50, up three euros on Friday's close, but the contract was last seen at EUR 52/MWh (+1.75).Market players attribute the sharp rise to the system price, which turned out far above the expectations at EUR 52.69/MWh. Meanwhile, the weather outlook is still much wetter than normal."Many players wanted to buy when they saw the high system price.
