Market - Tricky

The afternoon market bullied up as the system price was fixed above expectations at 276.81 NOK/MWh (+7.07). Turnover remained low throughout the day, and bullish fears stay put while weather forecasts are soaking wet. “Tricky,” a Swedish trader said.
With the strong Tuesday system price, V2-03 was lifted back above 261 NOK/MWh. The contract remains in its range, and the question is whether it will break in the one or the other direction this week. A Swedish trader argued in bearish terms, as rain is being delivered in writing moment, and that today’s spot was lifted only temporarily, influenced by the continental high spot blow.

After the strong Friday close, Monday fell back several NOKs as the fear of the spot was not realized and weather forecasts remain wet. Around normal amounts of precipitation have been delivered over the weekend but less than half of what was prognosticated. Import remains very high, however, and according to a Norwegian trader chances are best on the downside this week. Another player was more bullish, but the overall sentiment remains uncertain.
