Market - Theoretically and more

The Thursday morning market strengthened from the Wednesday afternoon’s drop. Weather forecasts confirm rather dry and cool conditions for the period, which obviously is not contributing to improve the hydrological balance. NENA said this morning that it remains theoretically possible that a situation will occur up until week 18/19. It is more than theory that prices could become very high, however.

The Friday morning market was thin and opened marginally down before lifting a little towards noon. The breakdown of the high finally could happen next week, but amounts of precipitation are no more than normal in today’s outlooks and temperature expectations are average. The questions that are of interest now evidently are; when will precipitation actually be delivered, where will it be delivered, and how much will be delivered.

The Tuesday morning market was up from the Monday close as weather forecasts again are postponing the breakdown of the high pressure. What this eventually will mean is in today’s market priced several NOKs up in both the futures and forward contracts, but as usual, it’s all in the weather.
