Market - Start Praying

The gappy Monday morning market lifted V1-03 up 30 NOK from the Friday close, due to continued cool and dry weather outlooks. The ever worsening balance situation brought the winter contract to this all-time high today, and 1996 is about to become bleak as far as altitude is concerned. “We have arrived at a level that is unfamiliar to us, and it is becoming difficult to trade,” an international trader argued.
A Swedish producer expressed his concern for the situation that is evolving, and said that one could only hope that the reservoirs would start filling up. Market - Steep and scary
Weather forecasts pointing in all directions didn’t prevent the market from lifting beyond yesterday’s high. Amounts of precipitation remain well below average despite an extra 2TWh in today’s outlooks, but with a deficit situation close to 30TWh the market remains in a state of bewilderment over the all time high levels. Players argued today that these new levels reflect how problematic the situation has become.

The very careful morning market suppressed all its bizarre ideas about a possible negative price development ahead as the system price surprised on the upside and weather outlooks are cold. At the most, V1-03 was up at 368.00 NOK/MWh, a movement of 25 NOK from this morning.

But the sellers pulled out as O1 was reported to be delayed, while the overall jump was a reaction to an exceptionally cold AVN.
