Market - Springboard movements

Following yesterday’s springboard movements, week 3 is on its way down again today with the other weeks following more slowly. Summer 03 is also heading down trading last at NOK/MWh 260.00. A Swedish trader says the S0-03 is priced too low and should bounce above NOK 300 as soon as the weather forecast turns cold again.
Mild and wet weather is expected to push the system price down early next week, and week 3 reacts accordingly dropping NOK 27.50 at noon today. Weeks 4-6 though continued the northern track from yesterday afternoon earlier today, as meteorologists believe colder weather to return from late next week. The change towards higher temperatures and more precipitation was confirmed again today sending the weeks down some 150-170 NOK/MWh and the Summer 03 down 33 NOK. “The trend has turned”, said a Norwegian producer arguing that the peak price period is over.

The weeks continue to trade lower on Thursday while the forwards are traded at the same price levels as yesterday. Warmer weather and more precipitation are expected early next week, and this may push the market further down. But reservoir levels continue to shrink. Market players are therefore anxious to see whether the forecast are actually delivered.
