Market - Short-squeeze

Prices continue north on Friday lifting the V1-04 contract to the high 360s NOK/MWh. Persistent suggestions of a high pressure provoke nerves for the upside, and more players may have been forced to take stop losses.
The winter season is set to finish the week some 10 NOK/MWh higher than last week, trading last at 367.50 NOK/MWh (+9.75). Market players attribute the lift to a non- appearing sale side, and the fears of high pressure next week.- There is no fundamental reason to lift the market this much. What we are seeing is the consequences of an asymmetry in the market where Norwegian producers are

The weak spot, slightly wetter outlooks and mild temperatures brought the morning market down. “It’s thin, but at least this morning’s movement looks more correct than the lift at the end of last week,” a Norwegian trader said, and added that V1-04 is nothing but a game at the moment.
