Market - Limits to the downside

Bearish movements continue to characterize the market today as the weeks are all trading well below NOK/MWh 300 and both Summer 03 and Year 04 have broken through technical support levels. The question now seems to be how far the market will slide before a correction arrives.

Selling interest continue to dominate the Nord Pool market on Wednesday despite a stronger opening mainly contributed to profit-taking. “The forwards are fundamentally under priced but should follow the front-end products down until they reach the NOK/MWh 250 level”, said a Norwegian analyst.

Selling interest continue to dominate the Nord Pool market on Wednesday despite a stronger opening mainly contributed to profit-taking. “The forwards are fundamentally under priced but should follow the front-end products down until they reach the NOK/MWh 250 level”, said a Norwegian analyst.

Market - In the red
The market is trading markedly south on Monday on a weak system price and continuous mild forecast. Next week was last traded below today’s system price at NOK 304.00 while SO-03 is down NOK 5.60 at NOK 235.40. Mild temperatures continue to put pressure on the front-end products, but it remains difficult to predict prices on the forwards ahead as hydro resources are scarce, and there is little precipitation in the south.
