Market - Hitting back

Cold and dry weather have pushed the market up in April, and the Tuesday market has resumed this trend today despite the strong correction seen yesterday afternoon. Summer 03 was last traded at NOK 230.50, after opening at NOK 228.50.
“It is very difficult to predict the road ahead now. The market totally collapsed yesterday afternoon, but is coming back up today despite that there are no significant news. It seems as if most players are in long positions at the moment, and one reason may be that they expect producers to price their water higher in the weeks ahead,” said a Norwegian trader.Colder weather

The market opened down today as consumption is falling, forecasts point towards more precipitation and Forsmark 1 is back in operation after a temporary outage yesterday. But prices have adjusted up since the market opened, and have settled above the lunch-time levels of yesterday.

A weekend short of rain and continuous dry forecast pushed the market further up on Monday. Too far, many felt, and prices started to head south again during morning hours trading. Summer 03 is now trading just above Friday’s close at NOK/MWh 232.00 after opening as high NOK 236 in the OTC market.
