Market - Hesitatingly down

The market opened down today as consumption is falling, forecasts point towards more precipitation and Forsmark 1 is back in operation after a temporary outage yesterday. But prices have adjusted up since the market opened, and have settled above the lunch-time levels of yesterday.
The Wednesday system price of NOK/MWh 280.88 (+19.31) is the highest since 20 March, and did push the market further up yesterday afternoon, albeit not dramatically. Summer 03 gained NOK 4.50 since noon yesterday, but its close at NOK 235 was nevertheless below its NOK 235.50 high on Monday.Players mainly contribute the strong lift in the system price to Forsmark 1 (960MW) going out of p

Warmer temperatures and the Easter holiday points towards lower consumption next week, and week 16 opened the day NOK 7 down on yesterday at NOK 247. Forecasts remain dry though, and the forwards stay around their Wednesday closing levels in a thin market.

Cold and dry weather have pushed the market up in April, and the Tuesday market has resumed this trend today despite the strong correction seen yesterday afternoon. Summer 03 was last traded at NOK 230.50, after opening at NOK 228.50.
