Market - Heaven or Las Vegas

In the day-before-Christmas-market turnover was very low, but the weather forecasts and spreads presented bore witness that the high-price scenario may not be over. It is easy to move the market considerably on exceptionally thin volumes, however, and as a result the V1-03 contract was back well above 600 NOK/MWh and SO-03 traded up to 268.00 at the highest.
While most players are either on Christmas leave or refrain from taking positions over the holidays, the prices continue to lift back to already familiar high levels. V1-03 had its all time high on December 5 when it opened at 670 NOK/MWh. Today the contract opened at 635.00 NOK/MWh, and the cold and dry outlooks for the entire period are not good news in this regard. On December 4 the summer c

Market - Gappy New Year
As 2002 has become 2003 the system price has reached a new all time high, fixed at 726.43 NOK/MWh (+68.32) for today. The summer contract has at the same time lifted to the 300 NOK/MWh level, and the high price regime, unsurprisingly, continues with the cold start of the new year. Turnover remains relatively low, however, as volatility is high.

Market - Silent day, cooking all night?
The quiet market was lifted this morning, but the overall impression is rather that most players are on Christmas leave. The most amusing aspect right now is the spot, and a Norwegian producer was positive that the nightprices, which in parts of Norway are higher than the daytime hours, most likely is due to the fact that the “juleribbe” is being cooked during the night. Ahead we don’t know what’s cooking.
