Oil prices gained strongly again yesterday in connection to hurricane Katrina, also partially affecting European gas prices. However, carbon remained stable and also coal only showed a minor upward movement.
One German oil analyst expected the strong price level to last for a while, since hurricane Katrina has hit larger production capacities at refineries in the US. “Reportedly, it might take as much as three months until the damage has been repaired so one should not be surprised if prices could climb even higher. The problem is affecting mainly the US petrol and heating oil market as well
