Commodities – Volatile phase two carbon

Carbon prices for 2008 delivery fell in value yesterday, after a volatile day. Meanwhile, prices for oil and gas firmed.
The price of phase two carbon allowances was volatile on Thursday, and traded in a EUR 17.75-19.30 range during the day. The contract closed at EUR 18.25/tonne, down 50 cents from Wednesday.Meanwhile, the December 2007 contract closed at EUR 7.55 on the ECX, up 45 cents day on day.
