Oil moved up several dollars over the course of last week, first on expectations of lower inventories and then on concerns over supply tightening later in the year. Elsewhere, prices drifted lower, with the most steady losses observed in the coal market.
US crude oil climbed up to within USD 4 of its all-time high on Friday, gaining 1.40 day-on-day to settle at USD 55.03/barrel, the first time the front month has been seen above 55 since 22 April.
