Commodities - Stronger prices and widening oil spread

Second phase carbon emission prices firmed yesterday, but a gain of another 1-2 euros is necessary to give producers an incentive for fuel switching given current coal and gas prices, players noted.
On Wednesday, the December ´08 CO2 contract at one point climbed to 17.15 (+0.50) on the ECX, before it moved down to be fixed at EUR 17.03/tonne, up 38 cents day on day.
