The carbon market did not react strongly yesterday to the news that Poland emitted around 30 million tonnes less CO2 than the national cap last year. Oil prices jumped to fresh records on more tensions over Iran.
In the carbon market, the benchmark December 2006 contract was traded as high as EUR 16.60/tonne yesterday morning, but then fell to 15.30 following the news from Poland that the country had emitted less CO2 than most players had expected. However, the contract recovered later on to settle at 16.00, down 20 cents day-on-day.Players did not expect Poland to be more than 20 million tonnes
