A quite pessimistic statement from the US treasury secretary regarding the outlook for the US economy caused oil prices in New York to drop below USD 127 Tuesday afternoon.
The September WTI contract for crude oil touched a low of USD 126.36/bbl, but ended the day USD 3.40 below the previous close at USD 128.42/bbl. Earlier in the day, it had traded at a high of USD 132.89/bbl.
