Oil prices edging lower on Monday morning after hurricane Irene passed the US east coast only causing "minimal damage” to refineries, but reduced oil product demand, an analyst said.
The front month contract for Brent North Sea crude oil was last seen changing hands at USD 111.04/bbl on the ICE platform, down USD 0.32 on Friday's close.
"I expect prices to be under downward pressure as a result of the Hurricane Irene passing through the US east coast without doing too much damage to refineries, " said Victor Shum, a Singapore-based analyst at Purvin & G
