Oil prices opened a touch softer on Friday morning after gaining some strength in the previous session on the back of equities and a weaker dollar, said players.
The front month contract for Brent North Sea crude oil was last seen changing hands at USD 49.69 /bbl on the ICE platform, down USD 0.42 on Thursday's close.
Energy markets traded slightly higher on very light liquidity on Thursday as benchmark contracts continued to mirror equities, said Jonathan Kornafel, director Asia at Hudson Capital Energy.
