Oil fell below USD 60 a barrel on Tuesday for the first time this year. The Cal 07 contract on German power stayed above an apparently strong support level of EUR 54/MWh while gas contracts corrected upwards.
The price of oil stayed above the USD 60/barrel mark for most of Tuesday, trading in a high-low range of 60.97-60.05 at London’s ICE, with the absence of major news giving the market little further direction. However, in late trading the front month fell below the 60 dollar mark both in New York and London – to settle at 59.57 (-1.67) and 59.52 (-1.10) respectively .S
