Commodities – Oil prices rally

Oil prices are rising for the eighth day in a row, and have now surged past USD 73 a barrel in London as well as New York. Carbon prices for the first phase increased as well yesterday, while the December 08 contract fell despite the UK NAP for second phase being considered as strict.
US crude prices rose above USD 73 a barrel on Thursday, with traders citing a number of reasons, including short-covering before the long Independence day weekend, the Financial Times reports.
