While coal gained more than ten dollars on Friday following heavy losses earlier in the week, oil touched a new all-time high above USD 147.
Coal prices soared on Friday, regaining the value the market lost during the previous two days. On the API 2 curve, the front-quarter climbed USD 10.75 to settle at USD 211/tonne sharp. That was still USD 2.75 lower than at the end of last week, but on par with Q1 09, which moved up USD 12.25 on Friday. A similar gain was seen for the Cal 09 contract, which ended the week at USD 206/tonn
