Commodities - Oil hits new record

Oil hit a new record high yesterday as petrol stocks fell and another tropical storm is threatening the Gulf of Mexico fields. Carbon and gas firmed only slightly.
US Department of Energy inventory data showed that stocks of petrol fell unexpectedly sharply last week, by 3.2m barrels, leaving stockpiles 7 per cent below the level seen a year ago, the Financial Times reports.After a brief period of profit-taking immediately after the data, WTI for October delivery soared in New York to close up 1.61 dollar at USD 67.32 a barrel. The UK NBP market moved south in Tuesday´s trading session, as did coal prices. Oil recovered from early retreat to end the day slightly firmer, while the European carbon market continues in a narrow range.
