Crude oil is soaring at new record highs as the Category 5 hurricane Katrina has closed production facilities in the US. Last week saw carbon prices firming slightly, while coal saw a retreat of up to two dollars week on week.
On Friday, crude oil had slipped as it appeared at the time  that Hurricane Katrina would not cause major damage to oil and gas facilities in theGulf of Mexico. US light crude settled USD1.36 lower at USD 66.13/barrel on Friday, while the IPE Brent lost 1.40 day on day to 64.87.
