Oil prices are trading down on Wednesday morning following the filing for bankruptcy of Japan's airline JAL and news from China that some banks have been asked to limit lending, said players.
The front month contract for Brent North Sea crude oil was last seen changing hands at USD 77/bbl, down 63 cents on the previous close.
On Tuesday, the contract closed 53 cents higher at USD 77.63/bbl while the front month WTI contract gained USD 1.02 at USD 79.02/bbl. A weaker dollar and stronger equities had supported prices late on Tuesday, said Stephen Schork of the Schork
