Oil prices gained strongly yesterday on geopolitical concerns and a leak on of Russia’s biggest oil pipelines.
The front month Brent contract at the ICE settled at USD 75.15/barrel, up 1.76 from Friday’s settlement while the front month contract in New York gained 1.16 to end the day at 74.40.Prices rose after Israel dashed hopes for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and the news of a leakage on of Russia ’s biggest oil pipelines, according to Reuters. Crude oil prices rose again on Tuesday amid fears that the conflict in Lebanon could worsen. Elsewhere gas prices appeared largely unaffected by gains in crude oil, and carbon and coal rose a touch.
