The oil and carbon markets showed a strong development last week. Brent crude jumped past the USD 70/barrel mark to an eight month high on Thursday while carbon rose every day to settle at EUR 21.75/tonne on Friday.
Oil prices took a big leap on Thursday on renewed concerns over US gasoline supplies this summer and more political unrest in Nigeria. Having started the week just above USD 66/barrel, Brent crude settled at 70.27 on Thursday and reached a new peak of 70.35 on Friday before sellers came in an adjusted the Friday settlement price to 69.42. This morning the contract was last seen at 69.81.
