Oil prices increased slightly Wednesday afternoon on the news that fuel demand in the US had increased for the second week in a row due to cold weather.
On Nymex, the front month contract traded as low as USD 53.66 barrel early in the day before gaining to a intraday peak of 55.45. The contract settled up 33 cents from Tuesday at 55.37.
