Commodities – Mixed picture

The oil market strengthened Monday. Carbon prices went sideways, whilst there was a mixed picture in the gas market and a few cents were lost in the coal market.
The situation in theMiddle East continued to impact oil prices. The US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice visited Beirut on Monday and, according to various media reports, insisted that Hezbollah release two Israeli soldiers and retreat their soldiers from the Israeli border before any ceasefire is established.The ICE Brent front month contract settled at 74.61, up 86 cents from Friday.
