Oil prices jumped on Friday, but are heading south again as hurricane Dean seems to miss the oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Meanwhile, coal prices fell at the end of the week, contributing to firmer CO2 prices.
Crude oil for September delivery rose 98 cents to USD 71.98 a barrel on Friday after the US Federal Reserve cut its bank lending rate to restore confidence in US markets. However, the contract dropped 94 cents to USD 71.04 a barrel in after-hours electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
