Carbon firmed on Friday, and coal also ended the week considerably higher than the previous Friday. Meanwhile, oil and gas eased off at the end of last week.
Carbon allowances continued up on Friday. The December 2008 contract ended the week at EUR 23.90/tonne, up 87 cents from Thursday. Utilities and banks weighed in stronger on the buy side, according to Point Carbon.Point Carbon analysts predicted an average carbon price in the second phase of EUR 30/tonne, up from a previous forecast of EUR 20, thus following the bullish forecast from UBS
