While prompt power prices are soaring on hot temperatures across Europe, carbon and fuel prices are also pushed northwards.
The December 06 carbon contract opened at EUR 16.65/tonne yesterday but settled at 17.00 on the ECX, which is 35 cents above Wednesday’s closing price. Strong German power prices were believed to be the main reason for the increase.
