Oil prices touched briefly a record high of USD 80.18 a barrel as US inventory figures showed an unexpectedly large drop in crude oil and gasoline supplies.
At Nymex, the front month WTI reached as high as USD 80.18/barrel after the inventory figures had been published. The movement was, however, temporary and the contract moved below the USD 80 level, ending the day at USD 79.91/barrel.
