Oil values are holding up on Tuesday morning above the USD 48/bbl mark as players are nervous in the wake of the escalating conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants on the Gaza Strip.
The front month contract for Brent North Sea crude oil was last seen changing hands at USD 48.89/bbl on the ICE platform, down USD 0.73 on Monday's close. The Nymex WTI front month last traded down USD 0.61 at USD 48.20/bbl. The price increase was supported by the escalation of fighting between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas as a ground offensive continued, market sources said.
