Coal prices continued on the upward path on Friday due to global supply problems and bullish freights. The sentiment in the oil and gas markets on the other hand, was bearish.
On the API 2 coal curve, the front quarter contract closed USD 1.10 above the previous settlement at USD 129.85/tonne on Friday, which was more than USD 14 higher than the close on 24 January, when the supply problems in China, Australia and South Africa set in for real.
