Commodities - Coal down as bullishness prevails elsewhere

Coal did not to join the sharp increase in commodities prices over the past week. US oil saw the strongest gains, but CO2, gas and power hit all-time highs.
Contrary to the real or imagined links between coal and other commodities which have been pointed out on numerous occasions over the past months, coal seemed totally de-linked from the bullish sentiment elsewhere this week.Coal drifted lower with great variations between the forward contracts on the API#2 curve. Several record high prices were reached in the commodity markets on Thursday. UK winter gas prices hit new highs, carbon traded above the EUR 20.00/t for the first time, oil prices stayed above USD 50/bbl and the German power forward contract Cal 06 traded at a new peak of EUR 39.55/MWh.
