Commodities – Carbon regains strength

European carbon allowances are now back at the same level as before the verified emissions figures for 2006 were released. Meanwhile, the price of oil is approaching USD 70 a barrel in London.
The December 2008 carbon contract was approaching EUR 18/tonne at the end of March, before falling below EUR 16 the days after verified emissions figures for 2006 were released. Since Easter prices have regained strength and the contract peaked at EUR 17.85/tonne on Friday.
