Commodities - A day of two halves

Thursday appeared to be a day of two halves. Carbon was fairly stable most of the day until prices fell a touch at the end of the day, and gas and oil prices were bullish early on before dipping at the close of play.
Crude oil futures were volatile on Thursday with prices retracing after Wednesday’s huge gains. Players were uncertain about the latest weeklyUS inventories, which showed another rise in crude oil stockpiles but also a decrease in heating oil inventories. Oil moved up several dollars over the course of last week, first on expectations of lower inventories and then on concerns over supply tightening later in the year. Elsewhere, prices drifted lower, with the most steady losses observed in the coal market.

Commodities - Oil jumps USD 2+ on inventory figures
Oil prices in both the US and Europe gained around USD 2.50 on Wednesday ahead of the release of US inventory figures which are expected to show another small decrease. Supply concerns sent UK winter gas to a new high, while neither coal nor carbon joined the bullish run on the other markets yesterday.
